Ellis Dee, affectionately known as The Captain, is one of rave’s most respected and influential DJs, with a career spanning over 35 years. Starting behind the decks at just 15, he became a key figure in the Acid House movement, hosting underground raves like Rave in the Cave and DJing on Sunrise Radio. By the late ’80s and early ’90s, he was headlining iconic raves such as Telepathy, Raindance, and Fantazia, sharing stages with legends like Carl Cox, Grooverider, and Slipmatt. Alongside his DJing, Ellis Dee ventured into production, forming Rhythm Section with Rennie Pilgrem and Nick Newton, launching the Ellis Dee Project, and co-founding Collusion Records and Point Breaks, leaving an indelible mark on Breakbeat, Drum & Bass, and rave music.
Over the decades, Ellis Dee has continually adapted to evolving club culture, moving seamlessly from Hardcore and Jungle to Breaks and Rave House, performing worldwide from Ibiza and Berlin to Canada, the USA, Russia, and Japan. His sets and mixtapes remain highly sought after, and he has played countless legendary events, including Fantazia, Raindance, Energy, Dreamscape, and Amnesia House. Today, Ellis Dee continues to DJ, produce music, and run a classic car garage, maintaining the same sharp understanding of club culture that has defined his career. The spirit of rave lives on through him.
