Producer, DJ, vocalist and multi instrumentalist Son Of Kick is making waves with his bumping, super-charged live set. A bass-feast packed full of electro, dubstep, heavy grooves and the insanely unpredictable. Catch him dropping acapella’s from Method Man or rocking snippets from the Violent Femmes alongside his own productions. On a playing field of his own right now, it was friend and vocalist RQM that recently coined his new ‘bass’ style, ‘Psychostep’.
Based in West London, S.O.K.’s sound & style has already been picked up by various labels including the Stanton Warrior’s own Beat’s and pioneering London imprint Botchit and Scarper. Recent remix credits include work for labels such as Equinox Records and Man Recordings in Germany, ESL Music (Washington DC), Civil Music (UK), and Om Records (San Francisco). Head of his label Way Way Records, SOK has a bunch of releases about to be unleashed. Out early December his current single release “Guacha” on Equinox (Germany) which is receiving major props from Rob Da Bank at Radio 1 through to Simbad in France as smashed air waves and dancefloors across the glob.
Not a man to sit about, S.O.K. is co-producing an album right now, alongside the French dj/producer Simbad for the new collective project “Klub Sandwich” with Grems & Disiz La Peste (ex-Rouge A Levre). Also producing a bunch of EP’s with the Foreign Beggars’, Pav and Ebow out in Berlin. There’s also the matter of his first solo album scheduled for july 2011 on his own label Way Way Records. Remixes for the Go! Team, Husky Rescue and Tokyo Police Club will also be dropping mid 2011 and his new solo EP “Playing The Villain” featuring: Machinedrum, Chris De Luca, Jantsen and Bang On! on San Francisco top Glich label MUTI Music. When not shooting videos for his label or making music for TV and film documentaries he’s working hard on new material for forthcoming European shows as well as next summer’s Gilles Peterson Worldwide Festival; having recently toured dates in Germany, UK, France and Switzerland alongside Bar9, Foreign Beggars, Bar Noize, Distance and Baobinga.
