+Mariachi el Bronx+ Preview – By Clementine LloydFebruary 17, 2015

In preparation for our sold out Mariachi el Bronx show tonight, local journalist Clementine Lloyd looks at why there will be no pancakes at the Boileroom tonight:

So what’s all this noise about Pancake Day on the horizon? Don’t you know that just a stones’ throw away from your frying pan is a particularly good purveyor of loud musical goodness? Yes The Boileroom is the name, and for this one night Mariachi is their game!

That’s Mariachi El Bronx to you, and sweet Jesus do they make some addictive listening. Hailing from Los Angeles The Bronx line-up, with a few super talented extra members, haven’t toyed with this set up. They are dedicated to doing this thing right, honouring the tradition to the last, and honing their skills more with every show. It’s a show you want to be a part of for sure, with songs of religious ire, romance, forgiveness and redemption, tales as old as time in a style as timeless and deep as the oceans!

Having toured the world over as both Mariachi and Hardcore, you can bet they have played some pretty fine establishments! In mid-January they even played on American staple Conan O’Brien’s show, and will indeed be fresh from an O2 spot at the Brooklyn Bowl on Valentine’s Day. BUT; nothing will have them shaking in their boots like this one! A rowdy crowd in Guildford’s finest could set any seasoned musician right on edge! Set to be intimate, powerful and ever so sweaty, you will be salivating far more over this than any egg and flour concoction we could name. So ditch the kitchen and get some Mariachi in your life. Eat Pancakes when you’re dead!
