Another busy week in store here at The Boileroom! All applications have now been taken for the Surrey Sessions Stage competition, the shortlist (handpicked by our judges at Anderton’s and ACM) will be revealed shortly, and will be playing live here at The Boileroom as part of a final local showcase! More details on that as and when we get them.
The Guildford Beer Festival is back this weekend. Friday evening Mungo Jerry will be headlining with some first-rate blues, with UkeJam and Martha Paton in to headline! The beer festival will have over 60 cask ales for you to try, from local brews to further afield, (and our very own Boileroom beer from The Little Beer Corporation to boot!). We’ll also be hosting the after party back here at the venue with more music from local talents Spotlight Cannibal, Aimee Gould and more, tickets all on sale online here, or you’re always welcome to pop into the venue to pick them up from us direct.
We had the Redfest BOTB final here last Friday, and we’re pleased to announce that IRIS are through to the final and will be opening the main stage on Friday at Redfest! Borderline:FIRE came in second place and have won the main support slot with Waylayers and Random Impulse at Camden’s Koko on 14th June – congrats guys! Get your ticket for Redfest direct from us at the bar!
…and lastly, June begins with an eclectic bang of shows here at The Boileroom, first up we have Brighton’s Nordic Giants – an amazing 3-piece set for big things, having sold out the Union Chapel, and joined Public Service Broadcasting on a sell-out string of UK dates, it’s only a matter of time! Combining arresting short animations and films with epic live scores, we were blown away by their set at The Great Escape this year – definitely not one to miss!
Godfathers of folk Fairport Convention are in on Tuesday 4th June – BBC Four made an incredible documentary charting the story of the band so far – recommended watching!
And Friday 7th June we have a handful of tickets left for the mighty Funeral For A Friend, with a stellar support line-up from Subsource and Empress (who recently came off tour supporting Cancer Bats). Of course this show’s gonna be rowdy with this kind of line-up, but Subsource will also be launching their very own home-brew courtesy of Little Beer Corporation – 1917, at 7% it packs a punch!!
That’s all from us for now, see you at the bar at a show sometime soon!
